Ayodhya Prasad Goswami was born in a family of Satradhikar ( Head of Satra ,vaishnavite Institution set up by disciples of Srimanta Sankardeva) on 12th July, 1927 in Ahotguri Satra, Silonijan, Karbi-Anglong District of Assam. He was son of Late Manik Chandra Goswami and Late Lakshmipriya Goswami.
Goswami had completed his school education from Govt Boys High School Golaghat and studied I.A in J.B.College Jorhat. Late A.P. Goswami was not bornwith silver spoon in his mouth and for reason he could not completed his graduation. He learnt to struggle in life from his childhood. He started his profession as a teacher at Golaghat Town High School. During these period he was also involved in several social, socio-cultural and religious.
organisation in Sivsagar district. In 1960, he had shifted to Guwahati. Later he continued his career as a journalist and worked for different papers which were published in Guwahati. He had dedicated his whole life for the development of Assam & Assamese society and to encourage and glorify its religious and cultural beauty by serving as a politician, editor, writer, social worker and through religious- cultural activity and organization. He was also a significant astrologer.
Ayodhya Prasad Goswami was married to Kamala Goswami of Ratnakar Satra Borpathar, Golaghat. They have four children, one daughter, name, Anjali Goswami and three sons, named by Baikuntha Prasad Goswami, Bimal Chandra Goswami and Bitul Goswami. After his wife death at an early age(1966), Goswami had to take care of his children by his own and with the help of his mother.
Goswami led a very simple life without any craze for expensive delights. He believed in Gandhian Philosophy .Simple living and high thinking was his motto of life. He used to wear Khadi Dhoti Punjabi during his entire life. Even his bonion and handkerchief were also made of Khadi. He had visited different vashnavite religious places in India to explore the culture of Vaishnavism.
