Goswami had taken a leading part in setting up of Journalist Association, Satra-Mahasabha, Sahitya Sabha at Golaghat. He had published several magazines from Golaghat, such as, Sontabani, Panchajanya and Yugabani. He was involved in setting up of Gitarthi Samaj with Late Dhireswar Bhattacharya of Jorhat to popularize the Madbhagabat Gita among general people .He published a children magazine Mouchak, whose editor was late Dinanath Sarma. He also published a magazine for All Assam Chemonia Chora, namely, Chamonia, edited by Mrs Bani Bhuyan.
During the 1970, he joined as a sub editor of Notun Assamia, a daily paper published from Guwahati, till closure of the paper. Later he worked as an associate editor in Rashtriya Batori. He conducted the “Moukuwari Baideur Chora” the children part of Notun Asamiya as Moukuwari Baideu for several years.
Ayodhya Prasad Goswami had spent his whole life working for the benefit of the people and their development. In 1950s and 1960s, he was associated with many organizations of Golaghat and Jorhat whose major focus was to work for the benefits of the public. He was one of the prime root for setting up of BaruaBamungaon Sugar Mill, D.R College (Golaghat) with BiploviBirShankar Prasad Baruah and others prominent personelities of Golaghat, The present College Authority has accepted the main Gate of the College in the name of Late A.P.Goswami in Golden Jubilee Year of the College and offer him the title ‘KARMAPRAAN’ in inauguration function of the Gate. He had set Rural Co-Operative Bank in Golaghat to provide financial help to the cultivators. He was one of the pioneer of rural library movementand had aim of setting up of ‘one library’ at each village of Assam.
He was fully associated with ‘All Assam Moina Parijat’, a children Organisation to provide recognition to the budding talents and worked as president for several term in Sixth and Seventh decades of 20th Century. He established an organization namely ‘All Assam Chemoria Chora’ for children age group of 12 to 19 years. He was also a member of Shishu Kalyan Parishad.
He played a major role in freedom movement and socialist movement like Ghiladharii Agriculturist Satyagraha and was hailed as a mascot of Asomiya activism.
He was an executive member of ‘WardhaRashtrabhashaPrastarSamiti’ with Bhagawati Prasad Lodia of Golaghat. This organization’s main focus was to promote Hindi language and literature throughout India.
In Guwahati he was working as Organizing Secretary of Assam State Co-operative Union and took steps to provide a dynamic position of co-operative movement in Assam. Goswami was one of the pioneer of setting up co-operative training centre at Jaysagar, Sivsagar, and had organised co-operative training camp in all remote areas of AssamAssam to trained up rural people for co-operative movement. He was also involved in publication of Sahayatri which was a megazine of co-operative society.He was associated with Guwahati Settler’s Association and Sarbodai Samaj of Guwahati set in Ideology of Binova Bhabe. Later on he was elected as General Secretary of All Assam Panchayat Parishad , works several terms as GeneralSecretary and functioning as treasurer till his last date. Goswami was the executive member of All India Panchayat Parishad.
In 1950s and 1960s, Ayodhya Prasad Goswami was involved with active politics. He was the Secretary of Chatra congress during his student life where the prominent journalist Dhirendra Nath Chakravarty was President. during his student life in J.B.College. Later on he was influenced by socialist movement lead by Jayprakash Narayan and Acharya J.B. Kripaloni. He joined Praja Socialist Party in leadership of Biplabi Bir Sankar Barua.
He isolated himself from active politics in his later life and devoted himself on non political social organization, writings , astrology and ritual practice .
He was expert in astrological calculations. Several people visited him for astrological advice. His prediction and Astrological calculations were almost perfect which helped most of people in their way of life. He prepared ‘ Sowarani (Kosthi)’ for new born and never demanded fees for these work.
Ayodhya Prasad Goswami never sought any laurels. He was a soul who constantly endeavored to better of the society. His persona will forever be remembered and revered. His monumental contribution to Assamese society have rightfully earned the title “karma praan”.
Ayodhya Prasad Goswami was known for his strong and divine personality, leadership quality and his great effort towards the society and hard work for its growth in all spheres that are, social, economic, political and cultural. Goswami is associated with Gitarthi Samaj to popularize the theme of Mad-Bhagawatgita among the people. He also set up Gitapur Satra, as a branch of Ahatguri Satra in Golaghat and another branch Sarangiri Ahatguri Satra at Sarania, Guwahati. In early 1970s, he was working for publicity and performance of Satriya culture in Guwahati with Dharmakanta Mahanta, Dimbeswar Mahanta, Pradip Chaliha etc.
In later life, he fully isolated himself from social organization and got involve in religious activities. He wrote a number of religious and spiritual books. Goswami had translated fourteen religious texts from Sanskrit, eight Vaishnavite text and Bhagawat Gita. Some of these books are published by his family in printed form.
